Volunteer with PTA

PTA is a volunteer organization. All events are planned and carried out by an army of volunteers. We need your help to make every event successful!

Please be sure to like our Facebook page as well as check your Parent Square messages regularly in order to receive the calls for volunteers for our various programs and events.

Need to know more before answering a call for volunteers? Read on for descriptions about just some of the things our PTA does...
  • Yearbook ~ The Yearbook committee -- responsible for the complete design of the West Creek Academy yearbook -- takes all photos for the yearbook (with the exception of school individual pictures) and organizes, edits, and designs page layouts. A big but very rewarding commitment!
  • First Day of School Kindergarten Photo Keepsakes ~ On the first day of school, PTA volunteers take individual photos of each Kindergartner. Photos are sent home with the students at the end of their first day of school, and are a great way to commemorate the beginning of elementary school.
  • PTA Programs ~ PTA sponsors many in-school programs throughout the year. Past programs have included Hoopitup! Kidz, The NED Show, Art for the Sky, Story Pirates, and more.
  • Helping Hands ~ Helping Hands is a community service committee which strives to assist those in our school community and beyond. The committee plans several service-oriented events throughout the year and works to show our students how they can make a difference both close to home and across the world.
  • Book Fairs ~ PTA sponsors one to two Book Fairs per year. Students and their families are encouraged to attend the book fair and select fun and interesting books to enrich the students’ curriculum. Teachers are given an opportunity to choose books for their classroom wish lists. Many families choose to donate books to the classrooms in their child’s name.
  • Junior Achievement ~ WCA PTA is delighted to be working with the school to offer the Junior Achievement program, a national, non-profit organization that brings real life, everyday tasks to school-aged students. Students are given hands-on tasks and games that are incorporated into the provided lessons. There are 5 one-hour lessons for the course, taught by trained parent volunteers.
  • Meet the Masters ~ Meet the Masters is an art curriculum supported by West Creek Academy PTA. Teachers provide a brief lesson about a master artist. That lesson is followed by an art lesson taught by trained volunteers. In the art lesson, students will create a unique piece of art in the style of the featured artist. Students have an opportunity to use a wide variety of techniques and media.
  • Reflections ~ The Reflections Arts Program is a national arts recognition program sponsored by PTA. Students are given a theme and may choose to enter in one of the arts categories. Current categories include Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts. All students who submit an entry are recognized at a West Creek Academy Reflections Gala. Winners in each of the categories will have their entries moved on to the SCV Council PTA competition. Winners from the Council level will move ahead to the 34th District PTA competition followed by the California State PTA level and ultimately the National PTA level. All students are encouraged to share their creativity and talent and participate in this worthwhile program.
  • Talent Show & Family Picnic ~ Another opening, another fabulous upcoming show! Each fall, PTA organizes a student talent show, held on West Creek Academy's outdoor stage. Families bring their own blankets and lawn chairs and are encouraged to either bring their own dinner. More information can be found at the Talent Show shutterfly site: westcreekstalentshow.shutterfly.com.
  • After School Enrichment ~ The After School Enrichment program at West Creek Academy is a program for all students to expand upon the curriculum and learn about a variety of topics beyond the regular classroom experience. Course offerings vary each session but will include opportunities in the arts, physical activities, academic courses, as well as theater and chess.
  • Fall and Spring Fundraisers ~ Each year, the West Creek Academy PTA holds two major fundraisers -- one in the fall and one in the spring. We have held Fun Runs, Direct Donation campaigns, jog-a-thons, spell-a-thons, and put on a gala and auction evening. Each of these events has helped raise funds needed to support our music program, field trips, library needs, maintenance needs, emergency supply needs, assemblies, and more! We thank everyone for the continuing support!
  • Fall Festival ~ The fall festival is an annual family favorite. Children participate in a fun trick-or-treat activity followed by an evening of carnival games, other fun activities, and delicious treats. This is a special time for all of our families to come together for fun and games.
  • Red Ribbon Week ~ Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention awareness campaign that is held each October. Students participate in educational activities as well as join a pledge to stay drug-free. Students and staff also join together to show their commitment to staying drug-free by wearing the color red on a specified day.
  • PTA Founders Day ~ Founders Day is held in (or close to) February. It is a celebration of the legacy of PTA, and it also provides awareness of the goals of PTA. On this day, we also celebrate the many volunteers who make West Creek Academy a special place for all of our children.
  • Career Day ~ Career Day is offered to our upper grade students, and occasionally lower grades as well! Professionals from a wide variety of careers volunteer their time to talk to students about their profession. Students choose several speakers and attend presentations in a small-group setting. Students can learn about possible careers and the educational requirements needed for those careers.
  • Matters of the Heart Family Service Event ~ The Matters of the Heart Family Service Event is an event that is unique to West Creek Academy. Each year, a charity is chosen and a family night is planned. During the event, families will participate in activities that will directly change the lives of those in need. It is a special evening filled with generosity and learning to help others. This event is very special to our school as we reach out to touch the lives of people around our world.
  • Women in History Week ~ Women in History Week is a celebration of important women. Several important female figures are chosen. Volunteers learn about the chosen women and ultimately portray the women. Dressed as these historical figures, the volunteers visit classrooms in character and teach the students about the impact these women have had on our lives today. Students are encouraged to ask questions and participate in a discussion with the women. This week is always a favorite activity of students, teachers, and volunteers.
  • Health Week ~ Health Week is a program to promote healthy living. The PTA chairperson chooses a different healthy activity for each day of the week. Past activities have included physical fitness activities, promoting eating healthy foods, and giving rewards for making healthy choices. Health Week activities occur during the students’ recess and lunch.
  • Sons' Dance ~ The Sons' Dance is an opportunity for boys and their moms (or other special person) to spend a special evening together. Special activities will be planned and the boys and their guests will receive a special keepsake photo of the event.
  • Daughters' Dance ~ The Daughters' Dance is a favorite event for the girls at West Creek Academy. Girls and their dads (or other special person) get dressed up and attend a special evening just for them. With dinner, dancing, and a special take-home gift, every girl feels special on this night.
  • Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week ~ Every spring, West Creek Academy families come together to celebrate and thank our teachers and staff. PTA plans activities throughout the week, and students show their appreciation for their teachers. Children are encouraged to share a special moment with their teachers and express gratitude for their hard work and dedication. We also honor all of the other hard-working staff members at West Creek Academy.
  • Spring Family Event ~ West Creek's Spring Family event is a fun evening that can be enjoyed by the entire school community. Theme and activities are decided upon by the event planning committee in the year leading up to the event.
  • Field Day ~ Field Day is a fun way to celebrate a successful school year. Students participate in several different fun activities and compete among their peers. All students receive a special participation award, and classes can also earn special recognition. This event requires hundreds of volunteers and is one of the most rewarding activities sponsored by our PTA.
  • Sixth Grade Promotion ~ After seven years of elementary school, our sixth grade students celebrate their promotion to junior high with a culminating promotion ceremony. PTA sponsors the sixth grade activities and promotion ceremony and celebrates the successes and future endeavors of our students. Promotion activities take place on the last day of school and include a special ceremony and reception for families.
