2018 Matters of the Heart: Stars for Our Troops

Friday, February 9, 2018 ~ 6-8 PM

We have collected American Flags with embroidered stars that were ready for retirement. We will properly retire the flags and prepare them for use during West Creek Academy’s Matters of the Heart event on Friday, February 9th. "We retire these flags from service and pass the legacy of their Stars to those that defended them."

At the Matters of the Heart event, students and their families will place these embroidered stars into a small pouch with a note explaining:

"I am part of our American flag that has flown over the U.S.A.
I can no longer fly. The sun and winds caused me to become tattered and torn.
Please carry me as a reminder that You are not forgotten."

Students and their families will also have the opportunity to write Thank-You cards to send with the assembled pouches, which will be given to the military veterans and first responders serving Team Rubicon, which rapidly deploys emergency response teams across the United States and around the world to provide immediate relief to those impacted by disasters and humanitarian crises.
