Our Kindness Campaign continues...

As part of West Creek's Kindness Challenge, we have been collecting new and gently used shoes, which will be taken by the ThinkKindess organization to orphanages in Kenya and Ghana in December.

As of mid-morning on Tuesday, 10/25 we counted -- with the assistance of some very helpful sixth-graders -- 650 pairs of shoes, but our goal is to collect 1500 pairs, so please keep them coming! We can take all sizes and types of shoes -- just drop them in any one of the collection boxes around school -- by Monday, 10/31.

Remember, your child can slip a note into the toes of the shoes to send a bit of kindness to Africa.

Inspire measurable acts of kindness!

On Monday, October 17th, our students will be attending a Think Kindness assembly, brought by WCA PTA.

Rather than just talk the talk, students will be challenged to document over 5,000 Acts of Kindness in just 15 days. Anything from opening a door, picing up a pen, or even sharing a smile, no act is too small to document. Within hours, our school will notice an explosion of Kindness!

The NED Show

posted on: February 27, 2016...

Did you hear about the NED Show? In January, 2016 our entire student population was treated to an assembly focused on "How to be a Champion!" Our Wolves were encouraged to make the right decisions and were taught that every choice builds character and creates a winning attitude. In addition, every child received a NED Show Yo-Yo to bring the inspirational story home with them through active play. Please take the time to recap the assembly with your child by entering the NedZone online, where you can reinforce the powerful messages to Never Give Up, Encourage Others, and Do Your Best, and maybe learn some new tricks for your Yo-Yo!

Art For The Sky: The day our students turned into a piano!

posted on: February 26, 2015...

West Creek Academy PTA sponsored an amazing assembly in January 2015, which included every student in the school. It was an eye-opening event that allowed the students, staff and volunteers a chance to look at the world from a different perspective. Each student was given a SkyCard of the piano design they created... how fun!

Assemblies that inspire!

What a wonderful start to our school year! And a huge thanks to our PTA and your direct donations, as it makes these programs possible for our students!

We have already had several programs this school year, hopefully your student(s) have come home talking about them.

Our first assembly was on the Bucketfiller principle, a theme which will be carried throughout our school year. Be sure to ask about being a bucketfiller or the dreaded bucket-dipper.

Our second assembly was a demonstration and history of hip hop. Very energetic for the students, who got to move and groove!

Our third assembly was with the Story Pirates. They are an amazing group from Santa Monica who relate stories and acting and improv to our amazing kids. Students submitted stories to be considered as part of the assembly and we had several stories chosen that were very entertaining for our school to support. It's always fun to include Mr. Pak and a favorite teacher!
