This month's specially-themed Spirit Day is in anticipation of our upcoming 'Bookaneer' Book Fair! Wear your favorite pirate garb and/or your West Creek Spirit wear/school colors.
Aarrrrgh!
Everybody loves a song! Avoid the rush and traffic of heading out of town and join us as we relax in our beautiful amphitheater to the awesome sounds of our talented West Creek performers.
Are you wishing to show your support and kudos to a student performing in this year's Talent Show on Friday, September 23? You can do so by sending flowers or a cupcake (or both) right to that student. How fun! Deadline to order is 9/16.
Head over to the Talent Show Participant Order section of our PTAEZ Webstore, and choose from among flowers, cupcakes, as well as DVD copies of the show.
Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, and bring dinner and/or purchase food from our PTA-run BBQ (deadline to pre-order is 5pm on 9/21). Then sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!
HELP WANTED!
The Back-to-School BBQ is in need of volunteers for the event. Available and interested in helping out? Send us a note via the contact form (choose 'Back-to-School BBQ' from the pull-down). Thank you!
Come join us for business and refreshments at our General Association meeting, held in the MPR (subject to change).

AGENDA coming soon!
The first ever Wolf Pack Fun Run takes place on Thursday, September 29th, and is WCA PTA's main Fall Fundraiser event.
Students will be running and exercising their way around a pre-designed course while parents, teacher and supporters line the track to CHEER them on! Instructions on how to get your child's Fun Run donation website set up can be found here.
We're excited about our upcoming WCA PTA-sponsored Scholastic Fall Book Fair: Bookaneer Book Fair: Where Books are the Treasure!
We hope you will be able to join us for a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our school and helps foster the joy of reading in our students. There will be a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level.

West Creek Academy PTA is thrilled to participate in the National PTA Reflections Arts Program.
PTA Reflections is a nationally acclaimed student recognition program to encourage artistic creativity in the classroom and at home. Students of all grades and abilities may participate and explore the arts based on the 2016-2017 theme: What Is Your Story?
Only new and original works inspired by the theme: What Is Your Story? will be accepted. Enter in 1 or more of the following arts categories.
View the national rules for the program here.
Entries are due in the West Creek Academy Multi-Purpose room on October 10th between 8:30am and 10am. Your submission must include a completed and signed Student Entry Form.
In your artist statement, tell us about your work and what it means to you.
Volunteer arts and education experts review submissions without knowledge of the entrants’ identity. Judges look for personal interpretations on the program theme that best exemplify creativity and technical skill.
Come join us for business and refreshments at our General Association meeting, held in the MPR (subject to change).
This year's Red Ribbon Week theme is:
YOLO. Be Drug Free.
Statistics show that children whose parents talk to their teens regularly about drug use are 42% less likely to use drugs than those who don’t. Yet, only a quarter of teens report having these conversations. This is a great opportunity for families to start such dialogue. When our kids come home with a bookmark or a bracelet, when they are dressed in red, or when they see the school decorated with red ribbons, you can start these conversations at a level appropriate to your child.
Please join the Red Ribbon Committee on September 8 at 8:30 AM in the PTA room to help with the planning of this year's events. Red Ribbon Week is a national alcohol, tobacco, and drug prevention awareness campaign observed annually (October 24-28 this year).
Don't worry if you can't make the meeting, volunteer opportunities for Red Ribbon events will be posted soon! Questions? Contact Esther via the website contact form (be sure to select "Red Ribbon Week" from the pull-down).
